What stays on your Mac

Core OneNotch data is stored in local macOS storage, including the OneNotch Application Support folder and app preferences.

• Clipboard text, links, colors, rich text, images, file references, timestamps, and source-app names or identifiers.
• Boards, pinned items, sorting choices, shortcuts, retention settings, and other preferences.
• Image thumbnails and OCR text, link-preview caches, ignored-app choices, and local activity records used by enabled integrations. Your OneNotch Pro license key, activation ID, and receipt email are stored in macOS Keychain.

Clipboard capture and sensitive items

While clipboard history is enabled, OneNotch observes changes to the macOS pasteboard and saves supported items locally. By default, it skips items that source apps mark as concealed, transient, or automatically generated. Those markers are not perfect and cannot identify every password, token, or confidential item, so you should pause capture or clear history when handling sensitive data.

Permissions and optional device access

OneNotch requests macOS access only for features you choose to use. You can review or revoke permissions in macOS settings and disable related features in the App.

• Accessibility may be used for global shortcuts, HUD behavior, and pasting into the previously active app.
• Calendar, reminders, Bluetooth, audio capture, Apple Events automation, user-selected files, Accessibility, and optional Full Disk Access support their corresponding widgets, visualizer, media controls, direct paste, custom Focus display, and other controls.
• Optional AI-agent features may read local Codex or Claude configuration, session metadata, hook events, workspace names, status, and credentials created by those tools to show activity and usage limits. OneNotch does not read or send AI conversation content to the Developer.

Limited network activity

OneNotch does not upload clipboard history to a OneNotch server. Some optional features still make direct network requests when enabled.

• Rich link previews contact the copied website through Apple LinkPresentation and may download titles, icons, or images.
• Lyrics lookup sends track, artist, album, and duration information to LRCLIB; artwork and other media may be downloaded from URLs supplied by your media app. App updates contact the signed Sparkle feed at releases.tryonenotch.com.
• AI usage status may read credentials already stored by Codex or Claude and send them only to the corresponding OpenAI, ChatGPT, or Anthropic endpoint to request account usage information. Local Codex and YouTube Music companion connections communicate on your Mac.
• Activating, validating, or deactivating Pro sends the license key, activation or instance ID, and a Mac display name to the third-party licensing service. The service returns license and customer metadata, including the purchase email.

Crash reports and usage data (optional)

If diagnostics are turned on, OneNotch sends anonymous crash reports (through Sentry) and anonymous usage data (through TelemetryDeck), so we can fix problems and see which features are worth improving. Neither identifies you, and neither ever contains clipboard content, file contents, your name, or your email address. You can turn this off at any time in Settings, and nothing is sent while it is off.

This website

The tryonenotch.com website uses Vercel Web Analytics, a cookie-free measurement tool that records aggregate page views, referring channel, country, and device type. It does not use cookies, does not track you across other sites, and does not build a personal profile. Purchases are handled on the checkout provider's own pages under their privacy policy; the app itself is never required to load this website.

Purchases, website, and feedback

A third-party checkout and licensing provider processes payment, billing, tax, fraud-prevention, order, and license information as merchant of record and shares the details needed to provide OneNotch Pro and support. If you use the website feedback form, we process the feedback type, message, language, optional reply email, and optional image attachment and send them through an email-delivery provider to support@tryonenotch.com. The website host and these providers may process IP address, device, and standard request-log data. OneNotch has no advertising SDK and does not track you across apps or websites; the only data the App itself reports are the optional, anonymous crash reports and usage data described above, and we do not sell personal information or receive your clipboard history, local boards, saved images, search terms, or AI conversations.

Retention, deletion, and your controls

You can choose a history limit, retention period, and image-storage limit; delete individual entries; clear all history; disable link previews; or stop using the App. Uninstalling may leave preferences, Keychain items, or Application Support files behind, which you can remove manually for complete local deletion. Order, license, support, and feedback records are kept only as reasonably needed to provide the product and support, maintain transaction and tax records, prevent fraud, resolve disputes, and meet legal obligations; providers may apply their own retention periods.

Third-party services

Payment, licensing, email-delivery, error-monitoring, analytics and website-hosting providers, Apple, GitHub, LRCLIB, OpenAI, Anthropic, Spotify, YouTube Music, websites used for previews, and other integrations handle data under their own policies and may process it outside your country. OneNotch does not control their security, availability, retention, or privacy practices.

Security

Local-first storage reduces server exposure but does not make data risk-free. Anyone with access to your macOS account, local files, or backups may be able to read stored content. Protect your Mac with a strong password, appropriate access controls, FileVault where suitable, and secure backups.

Your choices, changes, and contact

You can revoke macOS permissions, disable optional integrations, clear local data, deactivate a license, or avoid the feedback form. For access, correction, or deletion requests concerning information held by OneNotch, email support@tryonenotch.com; local-only App data cannot be accessed or deleted by us. We may update this Policy when features, providers, or laws change and will publish the revised date here.
