Capture a long scrolling page

Capture a whole web page, conversation or long document as one image by scrolling while you capture.

A scrolling capture stitches several scrolls together into one long image.

Capture

  1. Press ⇧⌘6 or choose menu bar › Screenshot › Scrolling.
  2. Select just the part of the content that scrolls (not the title bar or a sidebar that stays still).
  3. Click Start Capture.
  4. Scroll steadily in one direction, or click Auto Scroll to have OneNotch scroll for you. The preview beside it shows the image as it's stitched together.
  5. Click Done to save.
The scrolling capture controls during a capture: Cancel, Auto Scroll, Done

Tips

  • Auto Scroll is available only after the first frame is captured, and it needs the Accessibility permission. It pauses when you move the pointer outside the selection; move the pointer back in to continue. Click Stop to keep scrolling by hand.
  • If you change scroll direction, OneNotch lets you know and asks you to scroll back in the original direction.
  • When there's no new content, OneNotch tells you it seems to have reached the end of the page; click Done.
  • The image can be up to 32,768 pixels long. When it reaches that length, click Done to keep what you have.
  • Esc cancels before you click Start Capture. After that, use the Cancel button.
